The Florida Farm Business Management (FBM) contest is an annual event to select the team that will represent Florida in the National FBM contest held each fall at the annual National FFA convention.

Each January a preliminary contest is administered at local high schools to select the ten teams that will compete for the state championship in April at the Univeristy of Florida. Both state contests are very similar to one another and to the National FBM contest.

Each contest consists of two parts. Part I is composed of multiple-choice questions about farm business management. Consult the FFA contest guide for a complete list of topics covered. Part I has a time limit of one hour and a maximum point value of 100. Part II emphasizes problem solving. The students are given basic information such as enterprise budgets or financial statements and then asked to solve problems based on this information. Part II has a time limit of 2 hours and a maximum point value of 200.

Judges grade each exam and determine the total points earned by each student as the sum of the points in the two parts. The team representing each school may have up to four members. The team score is determined as the sum of the three highest members' scores. In the event of a tie, the four member's score is the tie breaker.
